You will hopefully be aware that the BMFA will have a presence at the Wales National Airshow, Swansea on 2 and 3 July. I know Allan Belcher (Area Delegate) has been in touch with many of you regarding support for this presence, either in person, to ‘man the tent’ or by providing aircraft for display.
For those intending to be there either to assist or display (or both!), there are some logistical limitations. The BMFA gazebo and simulator will have access by vehicle only on Friday 1 July 4pm to 9pm and Sat 2 July 6am to 8:30am. Any clubs wishing to display models or provide club literature for attracting new members must deliver them during those times or must hand carry them from Council car parks. Models will be stored overnight in a Council lockup on site.
Any club unable to attend can email Allan a document or ‘flyer’ (one page only please) giving their club location and contact details which he will print and display in the gazebo.
As advised previously via facebook, we intend to hold an Area meeting at some point on either the Saturday or Sunday. This is likely to be in the immediate vicinity of the gazebo, unless advised otherwise.
The main items on the Agenda will be:
- Update from the Area Delegate re the restructuring of Areas to enable easier access to Sport Wales and Sport England funding by Clubs. (The present ‘cross-border’ Areas structure makes this difficult for Clubs on both sides to access their respective national sports bodies funding)
- Planning for BMFA presence at the 2023 Airshow. (Primarily the organisation of trial flights at Swansea Bay in August, for Local Authority and BMFA display licencing purposes).
